Description

This gown was for my sister-in-law for her wedding. My brother and sister-in-law were married on the Lady Washington which was the wooden sailing vessel that was used in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Much smaller that it is on the big screen but still cool.

For the dress we originally bought a gown and I was just gonna alter a couple of things and add a train to save money. I got carried away and decided that the train material we bought was way prettier than the original dress and remade the whole thing.

The hem of the dress was covered in tar and I scrubbed and scrubbed for this show that the dress is pictured in. Wooden boats are sealed with tar pitch (sticky black stuff), very hard to get off. I used an oxy clean paste and a tooth brush to get the tar off. It came most of the way clean which made me happy. I'll have the dress for display for a long time, or until my sister-in-law decides she wants it back.

Very nice. All your hard work payed off, the dress is absolutely beautiful. I'm now going to see if you've posted a picture of the front.
